Red, White, & Blue Smoothie

As a mom who is chronically ill, I’m always looking for things I can look forward to. It’s not usually in the form of big things like fancy dinners or long vacations but instead it’s in the small, everyday things. If one of those things also happens to make my kids feel special and give them extra joy, it’s an added bonus.

One of the things I like to do is find ways to celebrate any and all occasions and especially every holiday. Taco Tuesday, Cinco De Mayo, the Fortnite Live Events… you name it. This mama loves a good theme!

While I haven’t been feeling good at all lately, I decided I would make a yummy (and healthy) red, white, and blue treat for my boys this Memorial Day. It’s a super easy “recipe” using only a blender. I hope you enjoy!

Red, White and Blue Smoothies

Makes 2 smoothies

Ingredients:

10-ounce bag of Organic Frozen Cherries

1 Small Watermelon (sliced)

Juice of 1 lime

2 Bananas

10-ounce bag of Organic Pineapple

¼ Cup of Vanilla Almond Milk

2 tsp. Honey

Shredded Coconut for topping

Blueberries for topping

Directions:

1. Blend frozen cherries, watermelon, and lime juice.

2. Use the lime slice to rub juice around the edge of a glass and dip into cane sugar for a sugar rim. ***Optional***

3. Place in the freezer for 15 minutes. Remove from freezer once it is slightly slushy and not completely frozen.

4. Rinse out blender and add bananas, pineapple, honey, and almond milk. Blend. Consistency should be thick.

5. Scoop the white mix on top of the red with a spoon. Doing this will allow some separation.

6. Top with shredded coconut and blueberries.

7. Enjoy!
